“We do not remember days, we remember moments.” – Cesare Pavese
Most of us seem to be engrossed with the pursuit of happiness, but not so much on the pursuit and enjoy simple things in life.
Probably because we usually associate pleasure with decadence and idleness. But we have forgotten that happiness is in fact has got to do with our daily pleasures of life.
It could be enjoying a baby’s smile, appreciating the wonder of nature, sipping a cup of aromatic coffee in the corner coffee shop or licking your favorite ice-cream on a sunny day or even admiring the changing hues of the evening sky.
Many of us just simply overlooked all these seemingly normal day-to-day activities. Or we are too busy rushing through our hectic days.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” – Robert Brault
Strangely, all these small simple delights that seemed like nothing at the time, in fact brought us so much joy and happiness when we thought about it. We reduce the simple pleasures of our lives to merely memories.
These overlooked simple pleasures in life do contribute to our physical and emotional health. In some ways, they even make us more productive by increasing our contentment.
“We will have to give up taking things for granted, even the apparently simple things.” – J. D. Bernal
If only we take our time to enjoy these readily available delights at that very moment. We should take our time to rediscover and enjoy the simplistic beauty of life and every day treasures. Yes, enjoy simple things in life….
“Simple pleasures are always the last refuge of the complex” – Oscar Wilde
